Bloody hell! A mix of hail and snow here, along with a massive bolt of lightning with near instantaneous thunder! Scared the bloody life out of me.

Only lasted 10 minutes in the heavy precipitation and now drizzle. Hopefully, the next lot behind will fall as snow.

Snow showers through much of the day, not really settling though as much of the intensity was quaffed up by the Peaks which have probably has a covering.

Snow has been on here more or less all day since about 8am, snow shower after snow shower piling in from the west , and some afternoon thunder and lightning thrown in as well

Surprised that people are surprised. Been saying that it was on the cards for some time now on MOD thread. Nothing south of Midlands though,as usual. No snow lying here since the beast.

No snow but I did manage some hail mixed in with the last rather punchy shower that just rolled through here, which is probably what the GFS 19 snow row (for London) was on about


Nice to see at least some places seeing falling snow though

On my way to london on the west coast mainline (taking a lot longer as you may expect)

Stafford seems like it had a decent dump earlier, thawing now but a good covering everywhere. Id say 5cms ish.

Photos & Vids from my daughters house in Mapperley (north Nottingham) showing a good 2" of snow from this afternoon! Here in Ilkley we have repeated hail and wet snow showers with the odd thin covering

We had about an hour of sleet /wet snow from 4-5pm ish today with a temp of 2.2 - 2.6c
Now dry, breezy and cold at 1.5c
Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.
