It would be a nice surprise, Jacko. We've just received a Met Office Yellow alert for snow in the East Midlands including Lincolnshire. I had quite given up hope this winter.

roger, steady wet snow now here on the edge of the vale of Belvoir- everything now turning white. If it hangs around until evening then the roads will turn awful if it freezes

Very quickly covered over here in Stoke, think we've got around 3-5CM out of the last couple of hours. Naturally the whole place has ground to a halt as everyone panics and leaves early.

There was a massive area of PPN heading for the Merseyside/Greater Manchester area, which then subtly changed track (as well as the northern edge decaying a bit) to completely miss here. Manchester is bone dry.

Some of the heaviest snow I’ve seen for a couple of years- it’s tipping it down. Thick wet flakes, good couple of cm covering now

No thunder or lightning here, but it is very dark and it is also snowing very heavily here in Edinburgh as I write. That snow has now started to lie even here in the north of Edinburgh and as a result of that, we now finally at long long last, have our first bit of lying snow of this entire winter in this part of the world.

However, that is horrible weather for being out and about and so, it's no surprise that the streets around here look rather deserted just now.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

As usual Saint (echoing back to the 2018 beast) the radar seemed to be strong right up to the river dee.

Didnt see anything more than a few rain drops on the window.  Our temp plummeted though, about a 4*c drop in an hour as the front approached.

Had this been the summer, or any other front, that would have had no problem reaching us.

It's bizarre - all the more so given we (or MBY at least) seemed to have no problem in most of the events between December 09 and Boxing Day 14. But since then, we've suffered from a lack of snow.

Heavy snow at work for an hour, then I decided to go home, thinking how lovely it would be to sit in front of a log fire looking out at the big fat snowflakes falling. Roads were really slushy for three or four mile, but it was easing.  Got home.  None!

some smaller echoes showing out at sea, but they dont look broad enough to impact the temp enough for snow.

Im expecting some rain and hail and blustery winds

It's now finally stopped snowing here in Edinburgh as I write, but everything around me is now looking decidedly white and if only we could have got this sort of weather more often and earlier on in this winter, I wouldn't have had any complaints about this winter whatsoever.

All the heavy ppn down here is entirely liquid. Not even any hail from this batch, even though the NW radar had a big area of green (rain/snow) and even a pixel or two of pink (snow) over this area.

Just had a very heavy sleet shower right on the N Norfolk coast, which was a bit of a surprise! Could hear it on the conservatory roof.  Looks like more on the way. Hubby just got in having driven from Kings Lynn and said there was “proper “ snow on the way back, and the car temp hadn’t got above 1 degree all the way.

Edit. Now it’s “proper” snow!
