This shows the weather data for Swanston which is in the higher suburbs of Edinburgh

9 days with snow falling so far and the Pentlands have had quite a few days with cover

Not as wet as Northern England though

My thoughts on the events for Monday this week are that places north of a line from Chester to the wash could see snow falling. If you live above 200m I would say settling snow is quite possible. there may be some wet snow mixed in the heaviest precipitation on the higher parts around Birmingham but I doubt this will settle.

Northern England could see snow to lower levels as the colder air will be more extensive.
Tuesday and Wednesday will probably see wintery showers quite widespread but again I doubt much will stick.

So I've been reliably informed of snow causing bad traffic conditions in Huddersfield, The Lakes, North Lancs and the Dales, including Ilkley where I'm supposed to be heading to. Some good images coming in on facebook too. Someone predicted on here yesterday that north of a line Chester to Doncaster would have snow. Seems to be about right. Rain in Nottingham which I'll probably follow north

A few flakes falling in south Edinburgh, but not - yet - the snow burst xcweathers totals and the metoffices heavy snow symbols would suggest

(I'd like to know what the met offices cutoff for "heavy" rain or snow is, it seems to be anything more than persistent drizzle)

Here in the north of Edinburgh and thanks to some evaporative cooling, the heavy rain which has been falling here so far has now turned to sleet and wet snow.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Interesting journey from Nottingham to Leeds. Heavy rain all the way up the A1. Lots of surface water and water running off flooded fields. 9 C in Nottingham. Came off A1 and round the east and north of Leeds. Slush at first but up to 2" of wet thawing snow from Roundhay round to Horsforth. Foggy over the snowfields 3 C here and now hazy sun and a rainbow!

Met Office spot on for North Northumberland, at low level we have had sleet then light snow 6 until 9am, heavier snow with settling to 1cm or 2 until 10, then light snow again, turning to sleet and then rain between 11 and 12. Temp increased from a min of 0.4C to 3 C now.

We were away last night in Lincoln. Just got home to see bits of snow on the cars.

The only few hours of lying snow this Winter and it happens when I'm away

Looks like wet snow further inland from Aberdeen.  Not sure what I'll find at home, the weather station says zero precipitation, and the anemometer seems out of service as well.

No, as I said clearly yesterday rain has been forecast and modelled for Aberdeen with snow inland. There is a small chance of snow later.

Sorry, I would rather have been wrong.  There may be other chances for you in the next week or two though.
