Friday starts with patchy outbreaks of rain in the far north west of the UK and a few showers in the south west. In the vast bulk of the country it is dry. Through the day much of the country has warm sunny periods. This afternoon some scattered but heavy showers develop. They are most likely in central and northern England, and possibly Wales. Northern Scotland remains cloudier with an ongoing risk of rain.

Much of the UK has a warm day with temperatures between 12C (54F) in the far north to 24C (75F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow it's a similar picture. If anything temperatures could be a little higher across England and Wales. Showers will bubble up again. In places they could be heavy and thundery. Outbreaks of rain continue to affect the far north.

Turning much colder

During Sunday a big change begins to take place. A band of rain of rain in the north pushes southwards and becomes more fragmented. Brighter and much colder conditions follow on with scattered wintry showers in the north east. There is also a risk of showers in the south and south west of England.

Next week starts cold and showery. Nighttime frosts are expected to be widespread. Temperatures gradually recover as high pressure builds in from the west. Later on the risk of showers could increase but there should be a lot of dry weather.
