Wednesday starts overcast in much of the country and there are patchy outbreaks of rain in places. Through the day a more persistent band of rain pushes northeastwards across much of the UK. By the middle of the afternoon it will be affecting much of eastern England and Scotland. Brighter skies follow but further heavy bursts of rain reach the south west and Wales by the early evening.
Temperatures range 8C (46F) to 13C (55F). See the rain radar for the latest view.

Friday brings a mix of sunny spells and showers to much of the country. In the far north there could be more persistent outbreaks of rain for much of the day. Temperatures will generally be higher than recently, particularly in the south.
The mixed theme continues on Saturday. By then most of the showers are likely to be in northern and eastern areas. Forecast details for Sunday are somewhat uncertain but it looks as though another band of rain will push northeastwards. Eastern areas could stay dry for much of the day.
Early next week drier it may turn drier and warmer. However, the general picture is a changeable one with the risk of further showers or longer spells of rain probably returning quite quickly.
