Easter weather prospects

Easter Sunday is looking very mixed. Across southern and central areas showers become widespread. Through the afternoon they could merge and become heavy. In northern England and Northern Ireland there is a risk of rain at times. Scotland has sunny spells but in the far north there could be a few showers. Still warm in the south but cooler in the north.

Bank Holiday and next week

Bank Holiday Monday starts with rain in the south. It should quickly clear to leave dry conditions in all regions. Sunny spells develop but a keen northeasterly wind in the south and east makes it feel cold. Afternoon temperatures will be about 10C lower than in recent days.

Tuesday and Wednesday are looking dry with variable amounts of cloud. Temperatures gradually recover and the warmest conditions may be in Scotland.

Through the second half of the week there are is likely to be some warm sunshine around. However, there is an increasing risk of showery rain in southern counties as areas of low pressure approach from the southwest.
