The week ahead looks unsettled with a risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain. An improvement may start to shape up next weekend.
Sunday begins with showers in the west and patchy rain in the far north west. Through the day the showers push eastwards across the south, but they fade away and sunny spells become more widespread. Northern England and Northern Ireland remain mostly dry, but wet weather extends eastwards across central Scotland.
Temperatures range from a cool 12C (54F) in the north west to 21C (70F) in the south eastern corner. It will be windy with gales in exposed parts of the north. See the rainfall radar for the latest.
Tonight the rain in Scotland clears to leave all areas dry. It will be chilly in the north.
Tomorrow begins bright but during the course of the day cloud spreads eastwards. Through the afternoon wet weather pushes into Northern Ireland parts of north western Britain. Overnight and on Tuesday heavy rain affects the north. In the southern half of the UK downpours and thunderstorms are expected to break out, as much warmer air from the continent is injected into the mix.
