The Bank Holiday weekend brings periods of warm sunshine but also downpours and thunderstorms. Next week the weather looks mixed.
Saturday begins with a band of thunderstorms in the southwest. Through the day they track northeastwards, pushing into northern areas this afternoon. In the south it turns drier and hot sunny periods develop. In Northern Ireland and western Scotland outbreaks of rain become heavy and persistent. Downpours are expected to bring flash flooding and very difficult driving conditions at times. Temperatures will be lower than recently in wet areas but a hot 29C (84F) could be reached in sunny periods.

Tonight the wet weather edges northwards and continues in Scotland for much of the night. It will remain very mild.
Tomorrow brings warm sunny spells but thunderstorms break out in the south, and late in the day rain in the south west becomes more persistent. Overnight and through Bank Holiday Monday spells of thundery rain spread northwards. Clearer and brighter weather returns to the south. Buzz looks ahead to June.
