High pressure holds on

Fair weather

Thursday begins dry and quiet across the UK. Locally in Scotland there has been a touch of frost overnight.

Through the day sunny spells develop in central and northern regions. The south remains cloudier, and showery rain affects the south eastern corner of England this morning. In the afternoon isolated showers push westwards but some bright spells may develop.

Temperatures will be similar to recent days, ranging from a cool 12C (54F) in the cloudy south east to a warmish 18C (64F) in the sunny north west. See the postcode forecasts and rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight it stays dry. Clear spells in the north lead to a chilly night with temperatures perhaps dipping below 0C (32F) in frost pockets

Tomorrow it's a similar picture. Northern and western areas have a fine day, but the east remains cloudier.

There is some uncertainty about the weekend. On Saturday outbreaks of rain probably push into southern counties. At the moment computer models suggest the wet weather will stay to the south of London, before clearing to leave a fine Sunday. Buzz looks ahead to mid May.
