Easter eggs

Wednesday is off to a wet start in Northern Ireland, as well as parts of northern and eastern England. The south is overcast, but in Scotland clearer skies have returned.

Through the day fragmented outbreaks of rain spread southwards but they tend to fade away. In the north it turns brighter but showers break out, and over high ground in Scotland they will be wintry. This afternoon sunny spells develop in much of the country.

Maximum temperatures will be close to 16C (61F) near the south coast and 10C (50F) in Scotland. Strong winds add to the chill in the north. See the radar for the latest view.

Showery conditions continue during Good Friday and Saturday. Most of the showers will be in the north but there is a risk of them penetrating southwards at times.
