Fine day ahead for many

[Updated 08:55 06/04/2017]

Fair weather

Thursday begins dry in most of the UK but there is some light rain in northern Scotland. Clear spells across England and Wales overnight have led to a patchy frost.

The rest of the day brings dry weather to much of the UK, but spells of light rain continue in northern Scotland. There should be a good deal of sunshine but thicker cloud is likely in Scotland, and perhaps the south east at times.

Temperatures range from 8C (48F) in Scotland to 15C (59F) in east England. See the radar for the latest view.

Tonight it remains mostly dry. Clear spells lead to a risk of localised ground frost.

Tomorrow it's a similar picture. Southern and central regions have dry and bright weather but thicker cloud in the far north could produce some light rain.

The weekend prospects look pretty good. Saturday should be warm and sunny. On Sunday cloud and showery rain slowly spread southeastwards. There is uncertainty about timing but it looks like the central and southeastern areas will remain fine and warm throughout the day.

Early next week it turns cooler and more changeable. Despite this southern and central regions probably won't have much rain, as high pressure anchors close to the south. Buzz looks ahead to Easter.
