Tuesday begins chilly and locally in the north there is a touch of frost. Most places are dry but thicker cloud is bringing a few spots of rain to parts of England and Wales.
Through the rest of the day it remains dry in the east but cloud builds later on. In the west thicker cloud brings an increasing risk of light outbreaks of rain this afternoon.
Temperatures range from about 7C (45F) to 10C (50F). See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight wet and windy weather pushes eastwards across the UK. The rain becomes heavy in places but by the end of the night clearer conditions return to the north west.
Tomorrow morning brighter skies quickly return to central and northern regions, but showers develop in Scotland. In the south the rain will be slow to clear and it probably remains overcast for much of the day. It will be mild, particularly in the south.
The rest of the week looks mixed. Patchy spells of rain affect southern and central areas on Thursday, and push into the north on Friday. Most of the UK will be mild, but in Scotland temperatures remain closer to the average.
As we head through the weekend all regions have showers or longer spells of rain. After a mild start temperatures drop back towards the average as a cooler air mass moves in from the northwest.
The latest guidance for next week suggests high pressure will have an influence on the UK's weather. This brings an increasing chance of dry periods.
The 16 day GEFS shows a mixed outlook but drier conditions are favoured at times. Temperatures take a dip this weekend and then stay close to the average.
