My Question is as to Weather Forecasting: Is the Future Always set in stone or can Events in the Present Change the course of the Future?

I absolutely agree that GW has done a sterling job and it was his brilliant idea to start this competition but it's become a victim of its own success. It grew very quickly and must now involve a tremendous amount of work for just one person to undertake, so maybe GW would appreciate some help.

I'd suggest work could be split so that someone else takes on the task of processing the predictions and producing the end of month tables, which would leave GW to supply his ever useful weather data and start the monthly threads.

If GW agrees, would there be any takers?  I don't have the software to process the data, so I won't be volunteering, unless someone can provide an online database, in which case I wouldn't mind inputting the data.

I also think that any helpers should collaborate closely with GW, to ensure he's kept in the loop because it is still his baby.

I concur strongly with all the above. GW is a legend of our time

Last month let me down more severely than any I can recall before, but maybe Jan will be kinder.

Provisionally going for 2.1*C which is restrained after some recent model runs but the recent wobbles are a bit unnerving.

I may update this tomorrow if I can somehow find the time

I'll gamble on cold I think - 1.6c for me please.

Generally chilly couple of genuinely cold shots, very little mild stuff and some cold nights keeping the CET well down.

I keep doing this- I keep bidding too early and then all the models flip permanently moments after my bid. It's still too early; I should really wait for the 12z s....but...here goes... 3.1C; there. That didn't hurt. (Yet).
