The traffic cams in Scotland aren't exactly painting a picture of extensive show cover. It's very localised, which belies the extensive-looking showers on the radars.

Apart from where the cloud is this image  will give you a good indication of today’s snow cover.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up this morning. 12cm of snow on the ground 😲😍

A joy to behold after the torture of the past 2 1/2 months 👍

Far exceeds the feeble Beast from the East and equals the peak of March 2013.

Max of 1.4C was not as low as the sub-zero max on 1st March 2018 but it was more impressive given there were 8 hours sun.

Three years in a row with 10cm+ now having not had any for 7 years from 2014  to 2020. The worst days for snow have passed but it continues to plumb the depths on the frost front. -2.6C last night was the first sub-zero temp for 39 days 🤮

So close! That was almost, but not quite, the first ever entirely positive post from you 😀 🤣

I know that this is the moaning thread but as I always say in the subtitle of these threads, you can also gloat if you want to and this has to go down as the first ever occasion that we have had a post on here which can be regarded as a gloat, rather than as a moan.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Aberdeen had 12cms of snow? Brilliant! Good to see something positive and lovely photos too - shame it never happened in winter months and you see the most snow in so many years in a spring month!

I am in N Devon at the moment. Radar suggests heavy sleet but it looks dry out there at the moment?

Where in N. Devon, how long for? spoke to my Mum half an hour ago- she said it's raining heavy there - could be sleet or wet snow but they can't see...

Now down to +2.5c here with heavy rain and large wet flakes thrown in. - I doubt anything will settle hear in Oke!

0.8c - just looked outside - heavy wet snow now sticking to all surfaces and pavements, roads, rooftops and grassy surfaces and hedges etc, it's white here in Okehampton!

I made the mistake of checking before switching lights off - now I can 't sleep as I am intrigued by the rate of the snowfall - already have 1-2cms in space of 1hrs here in Okehampton. Probably be gone by time I wake up and need to drive to Exeter.

I wish this snow event happened during daytime or even better during winter or when I don't have to sleep - bit of a 12th December 2022 dejavu and 17th January 2023 dejavu although snow much heavier this time!

Just rain in Ilfracombe as far as I can see. (They turn the street lights off at this time of night)

iPhone app says it is currently heavy snow back home in Hants. Radar suggests heavy sleet.

A few flakes in the rain, everywhere's now sopping wet.

2.3, dew 0.4 and falling.

EDIT, a bit later: 1.6 / 0.4, quite a few more flakes in the rain. Still sopping wet!

A good way to see where the snow is at this time of day is to look at Google Maps - it's early enough that there won't be traffic jams, so the oranges you see are where people are having to drive more slowly due to snow. Based on this, no doubt the media will be full of snow photos from the rest of the SE today!

First proper snow cover since Jan 2013 and it's still snowing. Will the schools be open, but no snow day for me as I WFH, although I"m sure I'll find time for a walk!
