Since we are now into a brand new month, it is time to start a new thread for this month's rainfall reports. At the moment though, we are going through a very dry spell and according to the latest model output, I don't really see that changing any time soon. Because of that, this thread probably won't be all that busy to begin with at least, but it is there just in case anybody does have anything to report for their area.

Thank you for creating the thread! It's day four of lake effect rain here, which makes me wistful when I remember how, in similar setups, we'd get snow. Damn, I wish it was 40 years ago instead!

Anyway... 0.4mm of rain from today's showers, enough to form puddles on the roads and pavements.

Here in Edinburgh, our real struggle to get any form of precipitation goes on. The situation is getting worse over time and there are real concerns now that SEPA will be issuing severe water shortages for this region of SE Scotland during the summer and possibly even later on in the spring if that situation continues.

We are now a third of the way through this month and yet, a total of just 2.4 mm of rain has fallen so far during this month at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with just 2.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Last night's precipitation resulted in the botanic gardens in Edinburgh experiencing its wettest day of this month so far, but that is only with a total of 1.2 mm in the 24 hour period from 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) yesterday morning.

To date, that is only the first official rain day to have been recorded there during the whole of this month so far, whilst Edinburgh Gogarbank has still to record even a single rain day during this month with this month's highest daily total there currently standing at a rather pathetic 0.8 mm which was recorded on the very first day of this month.

I know that most of England and Wales had an exceptionally dry February but this month so far has been a bit wetter even down there, and I can't think of anywhere else in the UK which is still struggling as badly during this month at the moment, to get any appreciable rainfall as we are just now.
