Nice to see the snow pictures.
Perhaps somewhere like Durham (or inland of Newcastle) might be next with that clump coming into the North East.

A potent Pembrokeshire dangler on the radar I notice too (albeit slightly to the east of Pembs) ironically.

Higher areas of Ceredigion must be getting a fair bit.

Hi Joe,  it was slightly east of north this morning which i think is why Fife & Lothian got snow. It's still lying away from the sun with the temperature around freezing

There should be a shower arriving in Cromer about now. https://camsecure.co.uk/cromer%20pier%20webcam.html

Not sure if it will be rain though?

Even here in the north of Edinburgh, none of the snow which is lying in areas which are sheltered from the Sun has melted so far.

I will of course, need to wait for that snow to melt before I can then get a figure for the equivalent rainfall amount from this morning's falls of snow which I can then report on the monthly precipitation thread but that hasn't happened up until now.

Since we only really have a fairly thin covering of snow though, I'm not expecting the equivalent rainfall amount from that to be all that much (that will probably just be the usual fraction of 1 mm if I'm lucky).
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Wierd skies in my neck of the woods.  Clouds of snowflakes (not reaching the ground) overhead with blue skies behind. possibly a decayed snow shower?

Some of the showers seem to be generating inland, so there is a patch around Carlisle and also a couple of lighter ones around North Allerton/Thirsk.
Just need some showers to either generate or maintain their intensity as they move inland this evening, some spots might get lucky.

Down in the vale we have cold rain and occassional sleep. Can't believe anyone would prefer that to cold, clear and crisp

Thanks. 😁

I just uploaded the image to https://imgbb.com  then on the full quality image on that site right clicked to get and copy the image address. Then in the post on TWO I typed "Click here for larger image" highlighted that and inserted a hyperlink for the text using the link icon above the message box.

That probably isn't the clearest way to expla8n what I did but I hope it makes sense!

Apologies for the low quality image but my hands were cold, it was dark and I was on my phone. 😁

Delayed response but yes, we had a couple of flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder this morning.  A couple of inches fell and most remains on the ground now.

First flakes of snow of the season (quite late, there hasn't even been sleet so far)  at 1.4c from a very light shower.

I'm told some light snow fell in Glossop overnight. My interest turns to NW England for  the showers night.

i hope they move this far inland before the pivot round due the small low that will form.

5th Jan 2010 (I think) was a classic here from a similar setup. Slack cold drift off the Irish dumped 4 inches in just 1 hour here. Thunder too.

Somewhere I think will hit the jackpot tobight. Not often well forecasted though as the Irish Sea is a fickle beast.

My concern is UKV is showing no snow whatsoever..

other models look more promising.

Morning.

A hefty show has formed and is currently still building over Liverpool right now. It's snowing on it's western edge for sure 7 miles away, but the backedge is over me, currently in the city centre.

At least it is something 🌨
