Beautiful start to the day here. Most of the thin covering of snow was preserved overnight and this was the view from my study at about 7am.
Very nice Brian - looks like you "lord it" over Berko from your place
Is this a recent picture? Those tree's look very bare for the time of year.
Of course it is, pretty much all trees are still bare and will be for another couple of weeks.
We had approximately one inch of snow in the garden this morning and a good del more than than where it had drifted. Out of the three mornings of cover this has been the deepest (and is still covering many surfaces currently).
Is that Warmwell? I skied there as a youngster many years ago.
O/T but that's where I first learned to ski back in 2015 at the grand old age of 44! Also went back in 2017.
We've had snow here in Arborfield two days in a row, but just light showers with no settling. My colleague between Basingstoke and Newbury had a covering yesterday evening, it seems we missed out here.
I was hoping that we would have got an evening...end of the line snow shower yesterday but nothing materialised. They died off very quickly after 5pm. A shame really as anything falling after 6pm last night would have resulted in a 9am snowcover this morning.
Still mustn't grumble. Two consecutive days of snow falling in April is not to be sniffed at.
About 50/50 at moment which is very normal. Birch, plums, horse chestnuts, have neen for a while.. seen Hazel, and even an oak in leaf - the oak is early. Lot's of others that I'm not sure of also in leaf.
You sound surprised that a location very near the south coast should be more advanced with tree foliage than a location in the Chilterns! On a recent essential trip to Surrey I noticed that trees were ahead of us in St Albans, especially horse chestnuts. So not really a shock to know that your location is further ahead again.
In a typical April, it just takes a few days of warmer weather for the leaves to quickly come out and transform the landscape.

Everything looked quite advanced when I went to the in-laws in the Test valley on Easter Sunday (although the magnolia blossom had been browned by the frost)
Back on topic, no snow showers observed today but yesterday and Monday both had some decent heavy ones. Only temporary dustings though.
I'm aware that on the south coast i would expect thing's to be ahead of the bulk of the UK, but just suprised with that image from the Chiltern's looking so very delayed still.
I saw an image recently from the Newcastle area and even there the tree's looked more advanced. :)
Forgot to add we had a number snow/soft hail showers yesterday 🙂
To my surprise, it’s snowing here right now.
Moderate snow developing overhead. Some parts of Manchester have a covering already. Big wet chunky flakes falling. Looks to be a convergence zone or something setting up. Hills to my North are white.
Edit- snow is causing problems on the Manchester motorway network nearby. There’s been a couple of crashes. One resulting in the M60 being closed near Stockport.
Moderate snow settling now in Simmondley (just SW of Glossop town centre)
