Since about 4pm there has been moderate or light sleet. Never really snow though sometimes flakes are very clearly visible (but also raindrops present). I'd say 50% on the rain-snow scale and varying between 0% and occasionally as high as 70%.

Sleet and wet snow is now falling here in the north of Edinburgh as I write, with Arthur's Seat in the distance having now completely disappeared as a result.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

We have 1cm snow cover now, looks lovely . Stopped now 0.4c
Looking at the radar we avoided the best of it, compared to areas to the NW and SW of here so here should be some good snowfall totals about.

Well I completely missed that one, as a very early riser I'm always in bed by then! However this morning there is a covering of snow on grass, cars and roofs.

Amazing to get so many snow reports heading for the middle of April. 4 days with snow or snow pellets here and 7 air frosts but abundant sunshine! Mean temperature only 4 C (-3 C below normal) up to yesterday.
We have a thin covering of frozen hail and thick white frost at -4 C

There is a thin covering here again this morning. That is the fifth day in the past seven to have some form of snow cover (from a dusting to 3cm).

No snow lying here this morning and hasn't been since Wednesday. Only a few pitifully brief showers of snow, sleet and hail since then.

For all the hype this has been a truly pathetic 'bone dry' northerly bringing far less in the way of snow than all of the other far shorter cold snaps I can recall in April - 1990, 1995, 1998, 2012 and 2015. Wasn't here in 2008 but that was probably better too.

It's just beyond a joke how poor northerlies have become producing very little in the way of precipitation. These synoptics in the past would have produced lots of convective activity with snow, rain, hail sleet showers persisting much of the day and only brief sunny periods in between.

Now all we get is cold, sunny and mainly dry conditions that are rendered useless and unpleasant by a vile wind. Showery activity is lucky to last half an hour in total across the day

Even if this had been January I doubt the accumulations would have topped 5cm from a whole week of northerlies

Indeed, looks like the Rossendale area had something fairly comparable to April 1981. Just a slight dusting this morning here, but that's gone in the strong April sun.
