No snow lying here this morning and hasn't been since Wednesday. Only a few pitifully brief showers of snow, sleet and hail since then.
For all the hype this has been a truly pathetic 'bone dry' northerly bringing far less in the way of snow than all of the other far shorter cold snaps I can recall in April - 1990, 1995, 1998, 2012 and 2015. Wasn't here in 2008 but that was probably better too.
It's just beyond a joke how poor northerlies have become producing very little in the way of precipitation. These synoptics in the past would have produced lots of convective activity with snow, rain, hail sleet showers persisting much of the day and only brief sunny periods in between.
Now all we get is cold, sunny and mainly dry conditions that are rendered useless and unpleasant by a vile wind. Showery activity is lucky to last half an hour in total across the day
Even if this had been January I doubt the accumulations would have topped 5cm from a whole week of northerlies
