Misleading.

The outlook is average, not “poor” as you claim.

The 850s might be average yes but it looks unsettled so likely wet with lower than average daytime temps, I would say it's looking poor for the time of year.

I will always remember this recent 5 week plus period as the coldest spell of weather ever here in Fulham for April especially the nights. The airmass we have endured for so long seems to have changed for the time being to a slightly milder set up and sadly I do not see any 30 degree days anytime soon with the current set up seemingly stuck in a rut for the week or two ahead. Maybe we have to wait for 'Flaming June?'

30c in May is very unusual.  Normally the first date is late June anyway.  Things do seem different this year to the last few years. With so much northern blocking if it lasts to July it could bring hot weather. Not convinced it will though.

What happened to the snow that was forecast to have fallen over lowland/midland areas last Thursday (6 May)? Did anywhere had snow that day?

Yes we do but we have, because it got to 21c here.  We had a few days of high teens in April as well but what was different was the number sub zero nights we had and the lack of rain.

It most certainly is poor. Unless you consider weeks on end of below average temperatures and rain not poor.

GFS 6z showing its possible to get hot weather in this HLB set up. Probably unlikely though.

It snowed quite widely further north at modest elevations on the 5th and 6th

Well another good GFS 12z later on. Some straws to clutch.

Another lovely, breezy, sunny and entirely dry spring day as this epic unsettled spell of “copious rainfall” continues.

A watching brief only at this early stage. It will be interesting to see if it draws nearer to reality or stays out in FI.

Surely if the May average is bang on the May long time mean it must be "May like" !

That is a point that is difficult to argue with.

Surely the models need to realized UK going to the summer season so must start showing warm to hot charts to appear.  We not in Australia that going to winter season there. Almost 9 months since i saw 24C 75CF here since nearly end of September.
