Was thinking earlier amber warning woul be appropriate as there is likely to be rush hour chaos in West Yorks. Euro 4 going for 10-15cm in places.

Met Office automated here shows snow from 3am to 1pm now and not going above 0c until 2pm. Might not quite last that long but it look like a heavy fall in the morning none the less.

Yes the timing of heavy snow during the morning commute surely adding to the 'amberness' of the situation.

Yes it looks like the North Midlands northwards will see 4-6 inches tomorrow morning, with drifting higher up. I expect it to turn wetter during the afternoon with drizzle and a thaw by evening. Maybe another taste of what’s to come next week.... maybe

Think that is wise. Can't see much moving tomorrow morning.

First amber warning for years I think, but might only be our third deepest snow of the winter. The bar for amber was of course lowered for East Anglia a couple of weeks ago.

I wonder if there will be any updated amber warnings as it moves into Scotland.......some models/forecasts show it snowing up here until Saturday

Far too optimistic

I know for a fact at least half the area you refer to won't

I’m in the amber warning but I have absolutely no idea what will actually happen come morning. Could be heavy rain, could be 4 inches of snow...
Watch this space.

Ps I’m going for heavy sleety rain battering my window with a temp of 1c!

The Grampians have a MetO warning for snow continuously from now (Tue) to early Saturday, and further north in the Highlands for almost as long. Any guesses as to snow depth by Saturday?

Both BBC and Met Office automated forecasts have the only ppn in MBY falling as rain.

Not one snowflake on show throughout.

Yep, there's already over a metre of lying snow in parts of inland Aberdeenshire so could be something quite special by next week.
