12z ICON very very snowy for our patch next week. If it verifies, you’ll do well, I’ll need to keep an eye out for the snow shadow as winds from the ESE.

They're here - plenty of rain for us down here.

He's weirdly precious about his location. Not even a hint of a town.

With occluded fronts stalling mid country from Sunday to Thursday, I believe somewhere on the battlefront is going to get epic snowfall my guess Yorkshire northwards..

Still to early to pin down details for next weeks event. More certainty about how it will start on Tuesday, where it will end up on Thursday who knows.
Likely a decent snowfall here Tuesday but then could turn to rain, far North of England might be optimal place for continious snow or it might start to thaw everywhere.

I have rearranged my click and collect shopping due Tuesday morning , probably cursed it now.

Battlefront is not a word you hear often for UK winters. It's still some days away though,

At least it will be mild!

Anyone else think that 'sausage' of cold uppers (Isle of man) that develops in situ over the front is really cool?. Often happens with decent warm fronts.

I thought he’d said he lived in the North East!  I was thinking Durham/Newcastle area but certainly further North than me.

They start off as rain, then hail then flakes of snow! They last about 5 mins max. Inbetween the cars freeze over!

Tuesday's event is rather simple in terms of where the warm layer is.

Its at the 850hpa level!

So the snow/rain boundary is at the 0C contour at the 850hpa level.

As long as you are north of the 0C countour you will see snow.*

* Does not apply for southern areas that haven't had time to cool down. But for the midlands northwards definately. E Anglia maybe too.

Does look further north than id anticipated and shows no sign of slower track. Turning milky wintery sky out far southwest
