It could be a lot further North than originally thought

Met have just changed the forecast here so that it now snows till six pm. Hopefully that means it’s about to start pivoting

Heaviest snow I've seen for a few years here. Coldest night of the year as well at -3.9'c.
Will take a measurement once it stops but it is heavy again now.

There was one strike over Eastleigh just before the rain set in here.

Looks like it might make it through to Essex and Kent. Fingers crossed for first lying snow for three years then.

It's shooting up to 4.8 c with 3 c dp under overcast skies and a mod S breeze here at Folkestone with the air frost quickly melting away (managed a min of -1.8 c at 5.35 am). As usual I'm keeping expectations low in terms of seeing any snow IMBY.

The met office app are showing light snow for the East Midlands during the next 6-8 hrs. It appears the system has crossed the country just a little further north than thought on Friday. This has pulled in milder air to affect the south coast regions.

I just checked met office site for nottingham is showing heavy snow symbols for this afternoon so an upgrade definitely, if it comes to fruition is another thing !

The northern curl of the ppn band might just reach here - the radar keeps nudging it a little further, but the ppn doesn't look intense enough for anything but flurries.

It's looking like forecasters got the northernmost reach before the pivot almost perfect, which is quite impressive.

Some decent totals down south, though.

60 seconds of graupel, then dry, temp went up as wind increased and then rain.

Never mind--Currently 0.8C so milder air from south just spoilt our chances it seems

As soon as I post--a little snow in the mix

heavy flakes of snow here in Fulham now and trying to settle even though its a type of wet snow falling at 2 degrees outside. Interesting The Met Office advised London itself would not get any snow under its latest weather warning but the snow would be confined to the west and south..

Here we go again. Front now stalling and pivoting North. About ten miles from me - looks like just bringing some patchy light snow then rain. Unbelievable. An hour ago I had intense snow heading straight for me.:-(

Not looking good for East Kent and South Essex now as pivots dragging up warmer air and lighter precipitation. Pretty much usual dross for here!

Nice one, Russ - bout time you got some fortune with the snow.

I'm banking on 'the curl' nudging about another 10-15 miles north and giving us here an hour or so before it all slides away southwards.

Not looking great, if I'm honest - the ppn is now drifting E-W just to the south of me.

Seems to be three types of precipitation in Essex and Kent - rain, invisible snow that is moderate on the radar, and zero !!

Shows 6 strikes but might have been simultaneous as there was one huge clap with snow and what looked like soft hail pellets for a time too.

Not sure if that's classed as thundersnow but it was quite a treat.
