A milestone in weather watching if it occurs.

But as I've come to realise the electrical storm deflectors have been remarkable in their consistency during this time. Well at least for this tiny part of Dorset.

Not just Dorset, down here in this particular part of Cornwall the last proper storm was in July 2014.

Ironically the Isles of Scilly do better than us.

Thanks Tim,

I went through that lot yesterday and left an account on the previous page towards the bottom if you are interested.

Move to Edinburgh! It's cold, often foggy but some good thunderstorms! 😂

Sort of missed the boat I think Beast. Might need one later perhaps. Sad to see the holiday people making the best of a bad day earlier when I took my son into work. Camping sites still packed. The sound of rain on fabric is kind of relaxing though.

That hasn't gone unnoticed Jerry.

Some interesting stuff off Le Havre as I type but the moderate rain enveloping me is just that, no more no less with electrical buzz consigned to a watery grave over the Channel as it approached me. Still live in hope for the second batch.

As for Cornwall doesn't it just rain there? Ah the sub tropical Scilly Isles you might think. It might be sub tropical but it never seems to properly get warm there. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 44°F to 66°F and is rarely below 38°F or above 70°F.

More and more like Aberdeen's permacast hell from what I've read. With some interesting plants of course not found in most of Scotland.

Wonder what this place is like? Maybe someone could find solace here and a cure?

Finally! A (small) storm in N Norfolk. V heavy rain too. What has happened to the iPad app update for the Met Office? Not a good improvement IMO. No rain radar for current time.

That small storm in Norfolk just South East of Thetford is packing one hell of a punch. I counted over 50 lightning strikes in just one 2mile by 2 mile area. In one small 500m by 500m patch there were 8! Who says lightning doesn't strike the same place twice!
Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.

Incredible I agree.

The main rain band such as what it was has passed by me without a whimper. There's a line of storms that's recently formed over the Cherbourg area and another over Britanny. Whether they will have the oomph let alone intention to get across the Channel later is another matter.

Not amounting to much here at Folkestone with a majestic 0.6 mm so far, barely even touching the baked hard topsoil while Maidstone is getting a right soaking. Again.

Just down the road in Laindon - just an hour of heavyish rain. 5mm for the whole of August! And today's now splitting and fading as it reaches here. Must be the Hills to my south.

Just come back from a cycle on the Lizard and over Falmouth bay there was a funnel cloud which also had a clear spiral underneath. I don’t think it made the sea so I can’t call it a water spout..... still no thunder!!

My prayers were answered and no repeat of thursday here! Not a drop in fact. Grass is still brown though, but starting to sprout again
