Somehow, one of the most thundery weeks I've seen for England in general has produced nothing more here than a few faint rumbles of thunder during a downpour on Friday afternoon.

A different kind of extraordinary weather - and much less interesting!

A good storm here now. Torrential rain, thunder and lightning but it’s not showing up on lightning map for some reason.

All that heavy rain is knocking on the door here, but it looks like all the thunder on the western side of it has petered out. To be honest, if it's not going to thunder, then hopefully the rain shadow effect will do its thing tonight.

Lightning not showing on the radar but we definitely have it here and it’s close because thunder follows shortly after.  So you may get it.

Thunder and lightning here recently. Very heavy rain adding to the 30mm already fallen. Flooding possible with what's to come.

Can see lightning from a cell over the Strait of Dover but seems to be too far away for thunder to be heard and it is fine and clear overhead.

Slow moving band of thunderstorms over Lowestoft this evening. Plenty of lightning & rumbles, but mostly light winds. Cloud base was around 1600 - 1800 m, but with assortments of clouds down to 600 m, but there was some coastal low clouds prior to the storm.

More showers/storms are currently training/back building in this area (there's been a few of them today I think, like in London area).

No storms, no rain, not a drop here in S.Essex. Floods all around me, looks impossible looking at the radar but just 5mm rain this August!

Even heard a couple of puny rumbles here in Chichester, the first of the summer! But a real downpour, seemed like more rain in half an hour than we've had in total since about April. Odd to be walking across a totally brown lawn and to hear it squelching.

Now back to blue skies

Now that a rPm airmass (even if very modified) has been established & with recent heatwave, there should be direct low level convective activity in the coastal waters (if I'm correct).

Having a go on the moaning thread clearly helps. We've had several rumbles of thunder, and just now a good flash of lightning as well to accompany it. Not really any rain yet, the radar shows the rain has passed us to the east, but there is more coming.

Only 7.8mm of rain so far this month, I need this at least doubling, please, for the sake of the garden.

Nicely picked up Kev. Looks like there's a 2nd one trying to "spawn" on the right of the shot as well. Really should set up my timelapse camera I suppose, I must miss loads of stuff...
