Watched storms going either side of me earlier at around 6pm. Other than hearing thunder, I thought we'd missed out. So went out with the wife for an evening walk about 3 miles south of here on the Hants/Berks border.

Coming to the end of our walk, it started raining and there was a flash of lightning and thunder, but we weren't really wet when we got back to the car. Drove the 5 minutes home or so and then ended up staying in the car for 15 minutes as the rain hammered down. I don't know if there was thunder, all I could hear was the rain on the car roof.

9.0mm of rain in 25 minutes, maximum rain rate just short of 40mm/hr. The garden needed that!

Been watching this storm the past hour... really developed well. Sunny one direction... deep black the other , with a big cannopy stretching out to liverpool....

But weve had 2 claps of thunder and alit of rain instead. Seems the sweet spot was widnes-warrington way....

We had our storm on saturday tho...

We missed the storms again today. We were the breeding ground unfortunately.

That possible supercell out to my West has turned the wind round to the North West here! Amazing watching it take a turn on the radar! Very dark out west but unfortunately it won’t be coming my way.

The SE wind direction has been very bad for storms here but great for the rest of the region.

Really good slow moving storm passing over us. Heard it rumbling closer for hours from sitting in the garden and now overhead. Rumble after rumble

Wow!!!

The thunder wasn't loud, was high based but was very frequent but the hail core was frightenin. Went to almost zero visibilty and was phenomenal. Left a covering in the garden.

Phenomenal.

Just about caught it. There were better ones I missed frown. Seems to be getting quieter now. Haven't quite had any proper flash and bang ones. A lot a few miles to our east

Did a timelapse of the storm's approach. You can see it go dark and visibilty dropped for a second or two as the hail core hits

That storm this evening was really quite something. I was (and still am) stuck in work unfortunately. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Some fantastic storms around this week.  We didn’t get anything yesterday, not even a spot of rain, but can’t complain after Sunday’s excitement.  Best storm for a long time, although not everyone was happy about it as there was some flooding. Our Post Office was closed yesterday because water had got in and they were mopping up.

I’m pleased others have experienced the activity!  More potential today and for the next few days!

I miss Home grown thunderstorms. Down here they are rare due to the cooling affect of the sea. We do have torrential rain this morning but no pyrotechnics.

Slowed down version of the supercell, not sure if a funnel cloud had formed. Still got a hail drift in garden.

There were some very intense echoes yesterday evening about 7pm over Sandhurst within a mile or two of my house and the sky went black, but we had not a drop of rain here.
