I've just seen a distant lightning flash from the thunderstorm just NW of Stoke. That's a good 35 miles away from my location.

3 beefy but brief imports moved in from the continent with some thunder at 4.15pm. Its approach was all the more impressive and came out of nowhere after a day of unbroken sunshine and a maximum temperature of 25.0c just 20 mins before it struck.

I can see lightning flashes from a storm just SE of Macclesfield at the moment. Hoping for something a little closer tomorrow!

Yes I've seen a lot of lightning from that over the last half an hour or so. Should have a video up later.

Nice one, Scott! I was still watching the storm not long ago, as well as another cell that had developed near Stoke. Both giving some good flashes of lightning.

Havent seen that in years... flashes of lightning ever 5 seconds or so. Not much thunder, not too much rain. Seems to have ran straight up the mersey. Really impressive to watch with a mixture of all lightning types. Some really sharp fork, and cloud to cloud

Lasted about about an hr

Great stuff.

Wow, what a light show. Took video of lightning from the first cell of the storm across Cheshire even heard faint distant thunder from my location. Then the real show started as it went darker. Beautiful twilit top of the storm with lightning flickering away. Not sure how my timelapse of this will turn out but the lightning was frequent.

Direct hit here on the edge of Liverpool. Two cells in quick succession. Copius amounts of lightning, but agree with Russ, not much thunder and only a 5 minite cloud burst. Fun whilst it laasted. Not had a storm like that for a good few years.

I have to say these guys always do a fantastic job at forecasting these thunderstorm events. This is their forecast verification for yesterday. Pretty bang on if you ask me!

Some good rumbles of thunder in the distance and getting closer. Still sunny here for now but I think it’s heading this way!

No rain here but still hearing thunder.  Sky is black to my West now, so I think it’s heading up the Pennines.  Steve will probably get it in Sheffield!
