The last couple of days have been dry here, but 0.2 mm of rain was recorded during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, probably due to condensation with the same thing happening at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh both yesterday, and on Sunday.

At Edinburgh Gogarbank, that now takes the total for this month so far to 31.4 mm, the total for this winter so far to 84.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 31.4 mm as at 7am this morning.

At the botanic gardens, that now takes the total for this month so far to 28.2 mm, the total for this winter so far to 74.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 28.2 mm as at 7am this morning.

Despite this drier spell of weather which we are experiencing just now, this month is still running quite a bit wetter than average just now both in terms of the actual rainfall amounts, and in terms of the number of official rain days.

There might be a bit of rain during tomorrow, especially first thing in the morning, although the rest of the week up until the weekend at least, is forecast to be mostly dry. However, the outlook then becomes more unsettled and wetter after that, especially as we go into next week.

It has been quite a while since I last had anything to say on this thread, as we had experienced a 6 day long dry spell going into yesterday which after the very wet start to the month, then resulted in the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in particular, now running slightly drier than average during this month so far.

However, that dry spell was brought to an end last night as 3.2 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank up to and including midnight, along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This meant that yesterday was an official rain day at both stations, albeit the first official rain day for quite a while.

On top of that though, a further 1.6 mm of rain has fallen so far this morning (as at 9am) at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today is another official rain day at Edinburgh Gogarbank and since there are showers forecast for today, that may well end up being the case at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as well before too long.

This means that the total rainfall since my last report on this thread is 4.8 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

At Edinburgh Gogarbank, that now takes the total for this month so far to 36.2 mm, the total for this winter so far to 89.2 mm and the total for this year so far to 36.2 mm as at 9am this morning.

At the botanic gardens, that now takes the total for this month so far to 30.0 mm, the total for this winter so far to 76.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 30.0 mm as at 9am this morning.

Since some showers are still being forecast for today, the above totals for today might not necessarily end up being the final totals for today. Despite that recent 6 day dry spell, Edinburgh Gogarbank is still running wetter than average during this month so far, and the outlook for the week ahead is now a more unsettled one, than what we have been used to recently which means that our first wetter than average month since last August is now looking very much, on the cards.

In the end, 2.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 1.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. On top of that, there has been a further 2.6 mm of precipitation during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon with most of that falling as snow, along with 1.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

At Edinburgh Gogarbank, that now takes the total for this month so far to 39.4 mm, the total for this winter so far to 92.4 mm and the total for this year so far to 39.4 mm as at midday.

At the botanic gardens, that now takes the total for this month so far to 32.6 mm, the total for this winter so far to 79.0 mm and the total for this year so far to 32.6 mm as at midday.

With further snow showers forecast for today, the above totals for today are unlikely to be the actual final totals for today, and the general outlook continues to be more unsettled.
