Wettest winters on record for England and Wales 423.0 1914-15420.9 1989-90418.3 1876-77415.6 1994-95388.3 1993-94380.6 1868-69374.3 1959-60373.5 1915-16363.0 1965-66362.0 1936-37340.8 2013-14 up to 5th Feb. I don't know whether you've got regionalised data, but [and I'll say this quietly], it doesn't seem to have been *that* wet a winter in these parts. I can certainly remember winters, even in recent years, that seemed a fair bit wetter. I cross the Glaze Brook every day on the M62 and it's not even threatened the top of the bank. Similarly, I walk over the Medlock in Manchester most days and that's rarely been above normal (and even then only just above normal)I think there was a Met Office graphic map that illustrated this well (to the e/o Jan)

I agree, it hasn't been particularly wet in my part of West Yorkshire - we are protected by the Peninnes so we are drier than further west.
I've not seen a cumulative actual for winter to date yet, but the individual completed months are available:

Kevin is getting day by day updates as they happen (like you can get for month-to-date CET) - I'd love to know where these are kept

Looking like No 1 by the weekend then.
So unfortunately this thread will no longer be about 1914-15.
I think I located them (and other interesting stats too):
http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/CURR.html
To get a UK average it's quite easy to copy and paste the data in this table into Excel and take an average of the rainfall column (52.2mm up to 10th Feb)
Cheers Kevin - thanks for the latest stats there.

Thanks Kevin.
Only 60mm to go.
Only 50mm in fact. The 2000 seasonal record looks pretty safe though. Another 130mm in 2 weeks ain't going to happen.I don't know about others, but my weather stats brain is now urging on the rainfall for the rest of the month so we can secure the record.

The gap closes for the wettest winter - somehow I don't think we'll break the all time wettest season on record.

I'd say we're nailed on for wettest winter and a top 3 wettest season ever, probably at least no 2 on that list. And if GFS is more correct than ECM today, then autumn 2000 could well be beaten.

After what I experienced this afternoon I agree with you there - and of course we're getting another lot on Friday.

Interesting there's not one spring in the list..... though not entirely surprising given the nature of the general weather patterns at that time of year.
