Already 29.1c at Wisley,  feels like a 35c day today. Would be the 5th 35c day of the year.

Also 20th 30c day, likely will have 25 30c days before half way through summer.

30.2 here (with a stinking 21C dewpoint), making it the fourth day in a row and - to my knowledge - the first time that's happened. 1976 had four days hitting 30, but not consecuitive, and other years such as 1995 had more in the way of a sea breeze... 30C has always been rare in Leysdown!

31.9c here at the moment. Definitely more humid today, but off to the east coast this evening, so a nice cool down on the way.

GFS 06z follows the same pattern.  Breakdown to a cold northerly.  Might need to fire up the central heating again!

Odd there are no weather warnings for this heatwave.  Mid 30s, tropical nights, longevity.  Not even yellow warnings. Strange

I have no doubt that would be welcomed by the majority who have had enough of heatwave conditions in many areas of the South.

Met Office: Temperatures have exceeded 34°C today for the 8th day this year 🌡️

That makes it a record for the most number of 34°C or higher in a calendar year 👇

The record was previously set in 1976 and 2020 for 7 days

32c here with some fluffy clouds about now, after starting out with clear blue skies.

Looking forward to Saturday with closer to normal temperatures.

The SSTs have had a big nudge upwards in just a day... Look at the area of 20s in the Channel for example. Truly exceptional for July, and Sheppey (as well as bits of Essex) are bathed in 22s - about the same as Marseille, and only a degree down on Malaga, both on the Mediterranean coast!

In fact the drop coincided exactly with the wind (there was virtually none before from the S) switching to a N.E'ly and "down" to 31.3C a half day sooner than I had I expected.

Not had a maximum below 25C since June 15th so might well make 30 consecutive days which surely beats any previous July records?

Here the dewpoint went from high teens to low 20s as the wind veered NE'y (it's still 28C as an air temperature though, so not exactly fresh-feeling).

Your run of 25s is remarkable. Here it's only been above 25 since the 1st, having been above 24 since the 15th - with one exception, a blissful max of 22.2 on the 22nd June!

Re the run of 25C+ days, on a national level we just missed it on June 29th with 24.9C the official max. The longest 25C+ run remains 40 days in 1995 as far as I know.

35.2C the max so far here today, down to 34.2 at the moment with a bit more breeze.

I've just pipped through the charts for August 1995

https://www.theweatheroutlook.com/twodata/reanalysis.aspx

This incredible month had a mean maximum of >27C in Southampton despite the last week being nothing to write home about; and yet there were only a few days with 850s > 15°C but mostly in the 10-14 range.

Then I think back to September 2023 with its week+ of 15+s and a significantly reduced solar angle.

This coming week should, with dry ground and a marine heatwave, have no excuses in producing a run of 33-35 temperatures surely?
