In follow up to this post from a few days ago. Unfortunately a serious fire situation is developing across Victoria at the moment. Strong winds, extreme heat had led to catastrophic fire danger in areas. Currently there are 7 emergency warnings in place as at 3:30pm EDST.
Of interest an unusually intense inversion developed across parts of Melbourne this morning. At 2:30am under clear skies and an inversion the temperature was 18.5c. By 4.03am a high altitude thunderstorm had broken the inversion with gusty winds and the temperature jumped to 36.2c. The storm cleared through and clear skies and an inversion redeveloped with temperatures back down to 17.9c by 5:24am.
