Got a hit from a couple of moderate intensity snow showers from the east in the early hours. A complete covering then but no more than 1cm. Min was -4C early in the night and it's now -2 C.
Not sure the main snow will get this far north now. We may get a few snow showers from the east

Good Luck to the chosen few today! I think Sheffield, Northwest Leeds, Bradford, Buxton and The Yorkshire Dales will do well with a heavy fall.

Up here it now looks like Saturday and Sunday will see the heavy snow. (I'll be in Notts by then in the rain 🙄

Hopefully there will still be some snow left in Nottingham on Saturday before it warms up for you.

If i were to guess I would say Southern Peak District might be worse hit but anywhere in the Eastern Pennines should do well.  Still lots of uncertainty as to how precipitation will be during the more hazardous daylight hours, when it will start setting on roads and who will see the most from the wrap around later tonight.

Looking at the MetO rainfall prediction, the heaviest pptn looks a bit further south than forecast earlier; I wouldn't be surprised to hear of quantities of wet snow over the higher ground from Cannock down to Birmingham. And hills in N/mid Wales are certainly in the firing line.

We missed out on other snow events over the winter but we have snow now.  A bit of a shock to the system coming back from 24c on holiday yesterday morning to -3c.  Dry snow flurries yesterday afternoon turning to small flakes last night and this morning but still only a light covering with no depth but hey!  It’s snow!

I'm looking forward to the first magic 21C high down here.

What a contrast though Michael and a good example of why people in Scotland have higher energy bills.

As I have woken up this morning, everything has a very unusual look about it just now.

We are still holding on to our 1cm of snow from last night here in NW Edinburgh and as I look out over the Firth of Forth, even the Island of Inchkeith has a covering, despite being located in the middle of the Firth of Forth.

Yet there is nothing more than a very slight dusting at most on the Pentland Hills with Arthur's Seat looking completely green which suggests that the city centre appears to have largely missed out for now on this one.

However, we are now approaching the Spring Equinox and the Sun is now gaining more strength every day as a result. Because of that, I would be very surprised if our own snow cover lasted right up until the end of today without any further fresh falls, especially on those surfaces which the Sun will be shining onto for the most amount of time overall.

For now though, it is actually mostly cloudy and so, there is nothing more than the odd glimpse of the Sun being seen at times. If that was to continue for the rest of the rest of the day, that might keep everything that bit colder and thus help to preserve our snow cover for that bit longer.

However, there is also a lot of blue sky to my north. If anything, everything seems be be clearing away from the north at the moment and that would suggest that the Sun will get through eventually.

That just shows yet again that it is usually always the southerners who get the most interesting weather overall, even though the will usually go out of their way to tell us otherwise during those relatively brief periods when that isn't happening and be very adamant about that at the same time.

Furthermore, Edinburgh isn't exactly renowned for getting any sort of interesting weather and that to me, is another reason why it wouldn't surprise me if none of those main snow bands even got this far north.

In the meantime though, I'm glad that you finally got that bit of snow in the south of Edinburgh in the end, even though you have had to wait that bit longer for it.

Snowing steadily here and some settling but some oc last night’s cover has melted.

The radar suggests we’re just on the southern edge of the snow/rain boundary and, again, our elevation will be helping.
