Frequent snow pellets now some are perfectly star shaped, the bigger pellets break up on impact and the whole lot blow along the dry ground

We have some light flurries of snow in the wind here in the north of Edinburgh and although that hasn't come to anything, it has come with a bitterly cold wind and I was absolutely freezing when I stepped outside to collect my shopping delivery earlier on today.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Heavy hail & snow showers coming through but only the hail settled (temporarily) to any extent.

Hopefully today will be the last day this year until November/December that I will be making a snow report.

Yay, first snow (well, snow pellets) that I've seen this cold snap. Little polystyrene balls bobbling all over the place.

Second day in a row with occasional short snow flurries,
Not bad for a northerly to see snow flurries as far south as Wiltshire

Whilst out and about, there were some heavy snow and hail showers that dropped the temperature to 0c, some accumulation on all surfaces at one point, but as soon as the sun comes out it melts apart from some minor drifts up against walls.

A short lived soft hail shower here mixed with rain. A sort of should have been to Specsavers affair that I bet many will class as a 'proper snowstorm' in social media here in this part of Dorset.

Very frustrating compared to the wet Easterly in January to see snow flurries now. Just goes to show the temperature on ground is only a small component when looking at Synoptics for snow

The Met Office forecast isn't backing up the locations name but you never know one day it might snow here again.

Because looking to the north there are some convectional showers holding what I assume will be wintry material approaching from the NW.

Is that Warmwell? I skied there as a youngster many years ago.

Quite a few snow showers here today and looks like another heavy one is about to hit - gone very black to the north!

A light snow flurry has just rattled through here: 5.4C, dew -3.3C.

There was a snow flurry at work (Sittingbourne) earlier this afternoon, at 7.2C, dew -7C... that's the highest I've seen snow falling in the UK.
(It also led to a fun discussion of how it could possibly snow at such a high temperature!)

Great stuff! Just goes to show what proper deep cold (thicknesses in the mid 510s) and dry (low DP) air can do.

As I explained to my friends at work, it's like living in a mountainous climate, like the Rockies... quite amazing to experience at pretty much sea level in the UK.
