Nothing here despite wintry showers being forecast we have temperatures of 13c in the sun and dropping to 12c under cloud?

Many people reporting snow and heavy snow - are you sure it's actual snowflakes? It could be soft hail, sleet or ice pellets? Sometimes they do look similar remember, I recall many people shouting snow in March 2013 when in actual fact it was soft hail - I am would be very surprised if it's snow (pure snow) that's falling if you are recording temperatures of +5, +6c +7c.

A flurry of snow (very light!) as another shower passes through. This time it wasn't the wet stuff, but the powdery dry type... inidcative of some very cold air aloft!

4.7C, dew -2.2C.

EDIT: It fell to 4.6C, -2.6C as I was writing this!

It has been snowing on and off (horizontally) here in very strong gusty winds for much of the day so far. The sun is strong enough to melt the cover in many places but not where it is drifting in the shade.

Currently it is 1.3°C sunny and snowing.

It's as much to do with a low dewpoint as anything!

(FWIW, the 850s when that last lot of snow came through were -10C, but as we know that's associated with deep cold, rather than just a "tongue" of cold air at the lowest levels.)

Definitely some interesting stuff.

Back to here and now - with many people seeing snow falling in temperatures well above freezing - say +5 or +6c must mean the dew points/uppers are low virtually across the whole of the country? The uppers in London now are around -10c (850hpa) and when we saw that colder spell back in the colder snaps of Jan/February the uppers were not as cold if I remember?

Interesting stuff anyway. Nice to have some April showers in April which is how it should be - like back in the 90's and early 00's.

Lots of convection building up now, just had a snow shower.
Ideally a really heavy one will arrive around 6pm and cover the ground until the morning but we would have to be very lucky.
