Heavy rain turned to heavy wet snow - left a slushy deposit on cars that's it. But least we saw something. The snow wasn't from the "precipitation band" that was freezing rain/sleet - the snow we had was from the showers that followed.

here in the Upper Thames Valley in SE Gloucestershire with big floaty flakes and accumulating quickly on all surfaces
After the thunder claps at 6.30 snowing on and off until half an hour ago when it started snowing very heavily. Huge old-penny-sized flakes to start with but now the temperature has dropped a little the flakes are 1-2 cm across. Still coming down heavily and laying on all unheated surfaces.

Yes about 10 miles South of my house!!! So I reckon it will get as far up as Liverpool, Buxton, Nottingham and then slip away.
