First cell electrified around 3pm, had a lovely cuppa in the rain. Larger cell has been active since 3:15pm, gaining momentum & growing out to the west of Welwyn towards St. Albans. Continuous activity for over an hour now.

Lovely stuff.

Looks like the furthest east of the cluster over Surrey might give us a direct hit before long. Going very dark and constant rumbling but only a few spots of rain so far.

Temperature has dropped from 34 to 29C in minutes.

Strikes spreading west, around Arlesford, & even Salisbury / Andover way once or twice. Towers to NE and N now.

Somehow we seem to have missed all except a few drops of rain as the storms pass either side.

Amazing electrical storm. Starting to drift away westwards now. Temperature dropped from 32C to 20C in about an hour.

We lost our internet connection for a while. Phone line was okay though. Not sure if that was some electrical phenomenon?

I knew we weren't in line for a light show yet, but hoped to hear a rumble or two. The sound waves were modelled as reaching us twice, but the breeze and the rather noisy over-the-fencers would have neutralised it.

I know we're due some over the next couple of days but I was hoping for a Savannah sound while it was still above 32°!

That cell is building massively as it pushes off west to the south of Basingstoke. Ground here is as parched as ever though.

Likewise here - more than a few drops of rain but not enough to register on the weather station.

However we did have a flash of lightning which was enough to knock the power off for a few seconds, which turned off my weather station laptop (battery seems to have died). It wasn't particularly close, but obviously affected the power network somewhere nearby.

Right on the edge of it here at the moment. Have had some rain and the thunder is getting more frequent but still some distance away.

Here in the SE corner of Gloucestershire a huge TCu approaching from my east and first rumbles heard.

Sun still shining brightly though.

Looks awesome

Well it looks like nothing in the barren arid reaches of East London for the rest of the evening into tonight. Another evening night of suffering ahead.

Dreadful.

Had few drops of rain and temps drop from 33C to 27.6C and back up to 31.4C now as sun shining while clouds still above me.  Epsom was 34C then drop to 23C and back to 31C.  Must be very steamy there.
