That’s the media for you Tally! They always exaggerate the weather because it’s always a talking point for us Brits and it sells papers. Your account of the April storm reminds me that I was sat in a plane on the airport apron for almost 3 hours in a snow storm on 1st March last year, courtesy of the beast from the east.
I haven’t reached 30c and the highest official monthly figures suggest it hasn’t been reached yet.
19th April - 25.8c in Cornwall. 15th May - 25.8c in Scotland. Not quite Land’s End to John O’Groats but nice to see the warmth shared North and South. We also had record breaking temps in February with 21.2c being recorded in London.
Last year, we officially hit 30c on 25th June and we may do the same this year. All eyes on Tuesday then!
Sod's Law that is, re your situation on Thursday 1st March!!
Devon was in the midst of the powdery blizzard then. - We had 6" of snow in 4-5 hours!! Remarkable the 1st March 2018!! - really was a memorable day, powdery drifts like sand dunes too snow blowing off rooftops daytime maxes of -3c windchill of -10c and uppers of -14c.
Back to the here and now - doesn't look like much of a heatwave this week for London/home countries! Just warm and humid and yet to crack the 30c mark: A day or so back the BBC weather had London at 32c by Tuesday and 33c by Wednesday...!? Now maxes of 25 or 26c.

I guess this will all depends on these thunderstorms - clearly they will have an impact on our daytime maxes ..!
Glad this summer is actually providing thunderstorms and of some interest. Gosh last summer 2018 we didn't see many if any storms. We just weeks and months of hot and dry weather= boring!
