The saying March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb may not always be correct but it's right in the sense of the month being a transitional one between the winter and spring. This year the first few days brought a cold westerly air stream with widespread wintry showers and accumulating snow in parts of the north.
What is the rest of the month looking like? There is quite a lot of uncertainty about how much influence high pressure will have on the weather but certainly in the short term very mild or even warmish conditions are expected at times bringing a taste of spring.
