December 2014 brought mixed weather to the UK with some snow in the north. Despite this the Central England Temperature (CET) finished above average.
Will the cold and snow arrive this month? Although the month is commonly viewed as the most wintry in the UK it often sees quite a strong westerly flow develop over the Atlantic and across north western Europe. In many years this results in wet and windy weather dominating with a better chance of colder and drier spells in February.
The TWO January forecast this year suggests an often mild and unsettled first half of the month. The chances of more mixed weather are expected to increase beyond mid-month with a greater chance of high pressure having more influence.
