The snow isn't really amounting to all that much here.
The depth is probably no more than about 1cm (it is probably less than that) here and what is falling has become very patchy, often to the point of stopping altogether.
When it's just rain which is falling, it is common for a lot of rain to fall just to west of us but with very little of that reaching us here in Edinburgh. Now, a similar thing appears to be happening just now, but with everything falling as snow, rather than rain (which is probably why the amber warning is further west from here).
In addition to that, the temperatures have also jumped up a bit to -1°C at Edinburgh Airport, and above freezing at Edinburgh Gogarbank (+0.4°C) and Swanston (+1.2°C).😡
Indeed, the snow is forecast to turn back to rain at lower levels so when you add those two things together, my horrible feeling from a few days ago about seeing rain with temperatures up to around +4°C is looking likely to come true later on.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
