We here in the Itchen Valley are some way south of Reading, and Portsmouth is even further south, but more significantly, coastal; also at lower altitude so the level will be affected both ways, I suggest, but in general I would expect Portsmouth to have a higher UV (slightly) if conditions are similar.

Thank you B W , thats great very interesting, surprised the values in Gib/Cyprus still relatively low though. Yes lee on solent is my location, but formerly Sandown Isle of Wight, so I guess higher UV still?

Thanks again

8.14 high forecast for today. Interestingly, we have a "high" of only 1.27 forecast for tomorrow under heavy cloud and rain.

I would think so PFCScotty; the S. Coast IOW resorts often hold the sunniest UK totals but also that few extra miles south could add to the tenths! Lumi on this thread mentioned in LA there's a <2 forecast because of the weather forecast; I'm not sure what's happening in Gib or Cyprus right now.

Hi Lumi; I hope you made the most of the 8; you should post a new rogue's gallery shot after that- serious browning.

I'm amazed at your latitude, even under rain, only 1+ is forecast for tomorrow. Very low cloud, no doubt. Thunder maybe?

1.9 in Reading today. Anyone fancy an early-date 4 for Reading? April 5th maybe?

I actually didn't get out in it more than 10 minutes, so the bronzing will have to wait.  A staggering 0.5 UV level currently under thick cloud and light rain. No thunder as yet, but I'm hopeful for some tomorrow following the frontal rain and the cold air aloft.  7.16 forecast tomorrow so I should expect some good sunny spells to help initiate convection.

1.8 today, but this was in Reading, and it was cloudier in the north of our region. Definitely higher here with some smashing pm sunshine.

The stunning late March of 2012 saw 3 days of UV 4, peaking at 4.3 on 28th. We've currently got 3 consecutive days forecast as such- will be interesting if it comes off, and how high it goes. Reached 2 before 10am this morning and the line has been steep and constant.

Only 3.2 in Reading- and the graph line is dropping quickly post-M; but I can also see a lot of high cloud to the N. Maybe tomorrow- the sun being as high as in mid-September.

3.2 today; a slightly milkier sky due to higher RH- as born out by the dew on all my car windows at dawn, despite a higher starting temperature than yesterday.

Double peak today. 2.8 at 12; 2.7 at 3. Interpolation suggests 3 between 1 and 2 if the sun had persisted at Reading.

Creeping up only slowly in Reading but here the sun is out more than in and we're heading for a possible 4 or a high 3 at the very least. Will be interesting to see if the patchy cumulus/ high UV theory is correct when the spikes and troughs for Reading appear later.
