By the skin of its teeth though - yesterdays daily figure was 2.9 and the monthly went from 5.84 to 5.75


not too confident asbout it staying at 5.8 today !


btw my guesstimate was 5.8 too

It hasn't been that cold in the CET region today, a brief warm sector incursion might bring temps up briefly this evening too, and the rain will keep it from falling away. Could end up with a daily CET higher than 5.8 :)

Here are the charts for January. As well as being the wettest on record it was also the 30th warmest on record.


For the winter as a whole we are currently just above 6C. If February were to come in at 6C that would make it the 12th warmest winter on record.


To equal the winter CET mean of 1988/89 (the 3rd warmest on record) we would need a February CET of 7.4C (also the 3rd warmest on record).
