Cold Zonality is my favourite weather for deep snow and cold here, the current synoptics are not good and the period now until mid January is my favourite time here if the weather is cold. Even wet and windy / stormy would be more fun!!!!

Hi Glenogle, yes a great camera at Achlain and a good one near you at Glenogle , you live a terrific spot yourself. But where has all the interesting weather gone we normally have!!!!
Its a barmy 6.6 degrees here now, a lovely springlike day out there. Just off to have a walk near Loch Ness before guests arrive. Its been an amazing year and very fortunate.

I was on Lochnagar on Saturday 23rd, same day as Ross above but about 10 miles east and a little higher. Lots of deep snow on the southern approach to the mountain from Loch Muick, blown by the northerly gale on Wednesday last week. Not so much on top as most has been blown off, but a couple of inches of rime on everything.

There was a thin mist coming and going on the summit giving some very eerie atmospheric effects. Summit temp was -2 with about 15 knots of wind, so not bad at all.

Just had the phone today as my camera is broken, so the quality is not great.

Hi Viking great Pictures and a perfect winters day. Not so today here in the NW Highlands , mild 10.9 degrees and dark and drizzly. Hoping Friday will give us something more seasonal .

YOu can upload them to imageshack or that type of site and then post them on here via that.

Otherwise, if you can get the photo in a format where you can click "Copy image", then you can just copy and paste. What I do is bring up the image on my facebook, not in the "surrounded by black" way, but refreshing so it is on the screen as a normal image. Then "copy image" and paste in here.

devastating thaw on the hills.  Rivers look like it's spring with the amount of snow melt in them

Expected that - and not much change over the next couple of weeks by the looks of things.   Odd really, if I didn't know better (after recent years) I'd have though I'd finally managed to book a Christmas/New Year hoilday .....

I have seen more snow on the mountains in May and June than today. Its more like late spring outside day and night , so sad . If we get snow and frost in December it is stunning and never melts. This weather stinks other than it saves on the heating bills. I don't want a storm like last week either it was horrific here, a lot of damage.
I have daff bulbs springing up all over the place.

Snowing down to fairly low levels today around the Perthshire hills and up in the Cairngorms by the looks of it. 3 degrees and sleet at about 400feet in the Central Belt. Skiing season started quite a few weeks ago. Came to abrupt halt again but that is the nature of Scottish Skiing (in normal winters).

There is likely to be much more at Glencoe than Gorm, it is just a shame the cameras on the hill are off.  I would hope that one of the members of staff will be up the hill today to get a couple pictures for their Friday email.

I would imagine that any north through east aspects will be heavily loaded with windslab. Big unstable cornices too. Definitely a healthy dose of caution and some careful route choice required. I'm sure you'll enjoy a good day out though šŸ™‚

Great pictures as usual Ross. Can't begin to imagine how it would have been last night with winds 70-100 knots and heavy driving snow. There will be an extreme build up of snow on NW facing slopes now.
