Met office update

UK Outlook for Monday 5 Jun 2017 to Wednesday 14 Jun 2017:

The first full week in June will see a changeable start with a mixture of sunshine and showers on Monday, some of these heavy and perhaps more organised for a time. Tuesday will be somewhat drier, before it turns more unsettled from the middle of next week with longer spells of rain and stronger winds, with gales possible in the northwest. Spells of rain will be interspersed with sunshine and blustery showers and these will often be heaviest across northern and western parts, with the south and east seeing some longer drier interludes. Gales may become more widespread for a time and on the whole it will feel cooler with temperatures close to normal for most. Despite this it may still be warm at times, in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Thursday 15 Jun 2017 to Thursday 29 Jun 2017:

From mid June onwards confidence in the forecast becomes low. However, it seems that the changeable weather will continue although it may be slightly more settled in the south and east and somewhat less unsettled in the north and west compared with earlier in the month. This will lead to a continuation of showers or longer spells of rain, although the drier and brighter interludes may be longer lived, especially in the south and southeast. However, there is a low risk of occasionally thundery showers spreading across the south. On the whole temperatures look likely to remain close to normal for mid to late June, although in any drier spells they may be slightly above normal.

Met office update

UK Outlook for Tuesday 6 Jun 2017 to Thursday 15 Jun 2017:

A period of sunshine and showers through Tuesday is probable, with perhaps the most intense showers focused in eastern parts. A more unsettled day on Wednesday looks likely with rain and stronger winds, especially in the north-west. The south-east looks set to be the driest part of the UK, although there may be potential for some heavy showers and thunderstorms later in the week. The latter part of the period will most probably be unsettled with further bands of rain crossing the UK; more persistent in the north and west where there may be a much windier spell. Temperatures are likely to vary around normal. The south-east is more likely to hang on to some warmer temperatures, perhaps a very warm interlude later next week.

UK Outlook for Friday 16 Jun 2017 to Friday 30 Jun 2017:

For mid June confidence is very low, however the most likely scenario is for more spells of wet and windy weather in the north-west with somewhat more settled and warmer conditions further south-east. Temperatures most likely to be normal to above average. Later in June a more generally settled, perhaps blocked, spell is possible, but signals for the end of June are very weak.

C'mon Dee Dee - admit it, you've opened up the Chablis early today

Yep the Meto have warnings up from earlier today. In advance of the cold front coming down from the NW the warm and humid air hangs on in the SE. Destabilisation ahead of the front could spark some lively storms in the SE - London area and into Essex/Kent/EA etc.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Jun 2017 to Friday 16 Jun 2017:

Cloud and outbreaks of rain are likely to push eastwards on Wednesday. The southeast could remain fairly dry, although some heavy showers are possible here too. Winds are also likely to be strong on Wednesday, with a chance of gales in the northwest. Blustery and locally heavy showers will spread to most parts by Thursday, with a chance of thunder. However, winds should ease through the day. It will be warm for most, but feeling cool in the northwest, and possibly very warm in the southeast. Unsettled weather is likely to continue as we head into the weekend and beyond, with further spells of rain or scattered showers, tending to be most frequent in the northwest. Temperatures are most likely to be above average, perhaps becoming very warm at times.

UK Outlook for Saturday 17 Jun 2017 to Saturday 1 Jul 2017:

For mid June confidence is very low, however the most likely scenario is for more spells of wet and windy weather in the north-west with somewhat more settled and warmer conditions further south-east. However, there is a low chance of some heavy and possibly thundery showers affecting the southeast at times. Temperatures most likely to be normal to above average, and perhaps very warm or locally hot at times in the south.

Temperatures will continue to be above average, perhaps becoming very warm at times.

UK Outlook for Sunday 18 Jun 2017 to Sunday 2 Jul 2017:

Towards the end of the period it could become drier and warmer in the southeast though.

BBC monthly outlook

Monday 5 June—Sunday 11 June
Unseasonably windy and sometimes wet first week

Prolonged rain will affect Wales and parts of northwest England on Monday, with some very strong winds in the southwest too, these extending eastwards later. The rain will become more widespread over England on Monday night before giving a cool wet and windy day in the northeastern half of the UK on Tuesday. Wednesday will remain windy, and there'll be further blustery showers in the northeast, but many places will have a dry day with some sunshine. Further occasional rain and strong winds will spread to some southern and central parts on Thursday, with scattered showers further north. A brief warmer, drier interlude is likely on Friday before more windy weather with some rain spreads from the west over the weekend.

Monday 12 June—Sunday 18 June
Showery start - turning drier and a little warmer

The middle week of June will begin with a run of southwesterly winds, bringing a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers, most of the showers in the north and west. By midweek most places should be dry with some sunshine and a little warmer too. Its uncertain how long this drier spell will last, and the second half of the week will probably see a return to unsettled weather with rain or showers for a day or two.

Monday 19 June—Sunday 2 July
Some rain and some sun - warm at times in the east

There is no strong indication of what type of weather will prevail in the second half of June. At this stage, the most probable pattern is for winds to mainly come from a west or southwesterly direction. This would give southeastern areas drier and warmer weather than areas further north and west. Even so, all parts can expect some fine days, but equally any fine weather is unlikely to be prolonged - with occasional days of rain punctuating the dry periods. A thundery nature to some of the rainfall events should be expected, especially in the east, associated with the end of the warmer spells.

Next week

With this week's wet and windy spell over, we'll look at the prospects for late June and into early July.

Met office update

UK Outlook for Saturday 10 Jun 2017 to Monday 19 Jun 2017:

Saturday is likely to be wet and windy again, with widespread showers and longer spells of rain. The rain could be occasionally heavy, particularly in the north and west. It's likely to be particularly windy in the south and west, with a risk of gales. Temperatures will range from near average in the west, to warm in the east, but where the rain is persistent it will stay cool. The unsettled weather is likely to continue beyond the weekend, with further heavy rain. This will tend to be most frequent in the northwest and it may be very windy here too, with the risk of gales in places. From the middle of next week, it may well become drier and warmer, especially in the south.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 20 Jun 2017 to Tuesday 4 Jul 2017:

For the end of June, confidence is very low, however the most likely scenario is for a drier and quieter spell of weather at the start of the period, with more settled conditions, especially in the south. Beyond that it could be a generally mixed, changeable picture, with further showers or spells of rain, especially in the west. Some drier and more settled interludes are also likely though. Temperatures are most likely to be above the seasonal average as we head into July, particularly in the east, with a chance of further very warm or even hot interludes here.

Met office update

UK Outlook for Sunday 11 Jun 2017 to Tuesday 20 Jun 2017:

An unsettled outlook is likely at the start of the period. Windy with showers or perhaps more persistent rain for most areas but some intermittent drier spells; these more likely further east. Rain will be heavy at times, this more likely in the north and west where thunder could feature. Thundery outbreaks could also affect the south-east with the introduction of some warmer air from the continent. The unsettled theme looks set to continue, particularly in north-western areas with stronger winds and some further spells of rain likely, but perhaps drier and brighter in the south. A period of more settled weather should then develop which may bring drier and brighter conditions across the UK by mid-week, feeling warmer by day but sometimes chilly overnight.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 21 Jun 2017 to Wednesday 5 Jul 2017:

A quiet spell of weather seems more likely around the start of this period with settled, bright and mainly dry conditions, especially for southern areas. Signals then become rather weak, but favour a more changeable picture with spells of rain or showers; these most frequent in western areas, with drier interludes. Temperatures look most likely to be above normal, with a chance of some very warm weather perhaps for eastern areas. However, there is low confidence for this scenario.

UK Outlook for Monday 12 Jun 2017 to Wednesday 21 Jun 2017:

Next week will continue at first to be unsettled with scattered showers or periods of rain, these most frequent in the north. It is a cloudy picture for many but with spells of sunshine at times. Temperatures will remain around average, and may feel quite cool especially in any persistent areas of cloud and rain. As the week progresses we will see more in the way of dry weather across the UK with some sunny spells developing. Feeling slightly warmer as we move through the week, especially in any sunshine. By the weekend a more settled picture should be firmly established but there may be a risk of rain in the far north at times. Further south-east it will be particularly warm and so we may see some thunderstorms developing.

UK Outlook for Thursday 22 Jun 2017 to Thursday 6 Jul 2017:

If warm and settled conditions remain in place at the start of the period, a gradual breakdown to more unsettled conditions is expected with temperatures returning closer to normal. The detail and timing of such a breakdown remain vague at this point.
