Here in Edinburgh, overnight rain, sleet and snow has cleared away but it remains very dull, damp, dreary and misty.
Last night was our first night for quite a while without an air frost being recorded at any of my three local stations although the temperature did still manage to drop very close to 0°C despite the cloud cover.
As at 7am GMT (07:00 UTC) this morning, the temperature at Edinburgh Airport and the botanic Gardens in Edinburgh was still only around +2°C, but the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank had by then, already jumped up by around 4°C in just an hour to around 5°C.
That is clearly the milder air moving in and within the next few hours, I would expect it to have become a bit warmer with the temperatures finally getting closer to or possibly even above where they should be at this time of the time.
EDIT:Having just posted what I have written above, it has now started to brighten up a bit with the Sun starting to make the odd appearance.
