A very cold and frosty start to this morning with an official air frost at all three of my local stations once again.
This means that regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month, this month will now go down as being frostier than average at Edinburgh Gogarbank as there has now been more air frosts there during this month than the 1981-2010 January average for that particular station.
There is also still some lying snow around which is left over from what we got from the back end of Storm Christoph. Some of that has melted over the last couple of days during the day before then freezing over at night, and this has now left our pavements in a very icy and treacherous state.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was ranging from -4.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, all the way down to -7°C out at Edinburgh Airport.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
