Finally at long last, our long period of time without any significant rainfall has finally come to an end in this part of the world as it started raining here in the early hours of this morning, and it is still raining here just now although that should clear away fairly soon according to the latest rain radar maps.
The result of this is that since 10am (09:00 UTC) yesterday morning, a total of 10.8 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning, along with 12.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
That makes yesterday September's wettest day and the wettest day of this autumn so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, but that won't be enough to prevent the totals for September from being below average at either of those stations in the final statistics.
Last night was milder than of late once again, and the overnight minimum temperature was 7.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 8.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was around 8°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
