Went to my beach hut at Walmer....mistake, NE winds nearly ripped the door off and splintered wood as it swung back. Showers of graupel pummelling the hut as it shuddered in the gusts with spray and spume from the Downs (the area of sea between the Goodwin Sands and the east coast), desiccating in the air as the waves crashed onto the beach brow.
Sheltered in the hut awhile before shutting up shop. Chose thence to walk in a nearby wood, much more sensible, but a whole degree colder at 120m asl with the high lapse rate, but infinitely more comfortable with trees providing shelter and bluebells juxtaposed by melting soft hail was a sight out of the 1980's.
Back in Dover, currently 5.0 c, dp a chilly -3.6.
