The longer-term outlook remains poor for expanding snow cover in Europe.
The Euro high relaxes southward this week but the cold air looks very maritime, seriously limiting low-altitude snowfall except perhaps in parts of Scandinavia.
Then, signs are it builds back next week, shutting out the cold air from most parts yet again.
At this rate, unseasonable spring warmth - and in places, heat - is also going to be a big topic in Europe and western Asia this year, unless the weather patterns change markedly by mid-March at the latest, to put down a good amount of snow that can bed-in and resist rapid melting as the sun shines down ever-stronger.
