Total rainfall for October now stands at 93.8mm

The final part of September was also very wet. First 3 weeks of September were very dry. The last 9 days saw 77mm

So total rainfall for the 28 days (4 weeks) from 22 September to 19 October is 171mm. That is exceptionally wet for a 4 week period.

I think this may be the wettest 4 week spell of early Autumn rainfall in these parts since 2000. Often the wettest conditions here occur in November and December.

Oct Month to date here is about 47mm

However my 30 day running total is about 140mm...

Tomorrow into Saturday could drop another 60mm, I could be looking at around 200mm for a 30 day period which is pretty insane.

At least it looks like the most intense / persistent rain will be to the north of us this weekend. Some (relatively) dry weather will be useful!

Moved here May. Dry Summer, but 107 mm so far for October and it’s been raining steadily now at c.4 to 6 mm/hr for a few hours, with another c.23hrs of rain forecast. It’s been a wet month. I wonder if we’ll beat our monthly record for our previous home (Ryedale) which was 140.4mm in Dec 2015...

34mm of rain from the rain event through Friday/Saturday has brought our October total up to 103mm so far.    Currently the 3rd wettest October I've recorded behind 2013 and 2004.

229mm of rain so far this Autumn, meaning it's already the 3rd wettest Autumn I've recorded, with only 2000 and 1993 ahead now.

Pershore received a total of 41mm of rain in the 48hrs covering Friday & Saturday, which equates to 2/3 of the average months rainfall of 60mm. Result being flooding of the River Avon in Evesham, though not severe. The worst flooding in the general area is from the Rivers Severn and Wye ,especially Worcester and Tewkesbury.Hasnt helped that a large tide and set of bores were due the first half of the week, which means extra water pushing up the severn which must stop some of the flood waters moving down from dissipating as quickly

It's been a while since I last posted here, but I would like to correct a few things there as those totals were actually a bit higher than what they were as it turned out.

To bring everything up to date, the latest total for this month at Edinburgh Gogarbank is 88.8 mm as at 10pm tonight, along with 102.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For the autumn, these totals are 169.4 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 180.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh whereas the totals for this year so far are 754.3 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 684.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

These numbers aren't quite a high as what I reported beforehand, but they are still well above the 1981-2010 averages for this month which means that this has still been a considerably wetter than average month in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

However, we didn't get any of the recent rainfall which affected most of England and Wales and because of that, there has actually been very little in the way of rainfall here during the last week or so.

This has also meant that the number of official days is actually slightly below average during this month at both of those stations and with just two days left of this month to go, there aren't enough days left in this month for the number of official rain days during this month so far, to be able to catch up with these averages.

This means that regardless of what happens during the last two days of this month, this month will actually go down as being drier than average at both of those stations in terms of the number of official rain days.
