For some reason I couldn't access the forum on Saturday.
Quite a notable day for a number of reasons.
At 10am the temperature was already at 24.5C. Now here is the incredible bit. Climbing up from the centre of Glossop (140 masl) to the Snake Pass Summit ( over 500m asl) the temperatre actually rose to 25C!
This showed the effect of the extreme upper air plume at play. Once I got over the Snake summit the temperature dropped and was only 22C when I arrived in Sheffield Centre at 11am.
The warmer temps in Glossop were as result of the Local Foehn effect we get here when the setup is right.
Coming home at 2pm the temperature was 27.5C in Sheffield. Just after passing Ladybower and on my way back to Glossop the temperature rose to an incredible 29.5C on my car display. To see these sorts of temperaures over the Pennine routes is quite rare indeed.
Dropping back into Glossop and the temperature at 3pm was 31C degrees in Glossop town centre and 30.5C at my house. It felt properly hot in the keen SSE breeze. My home setup read 30.6C.
The cold front coming through was very noticable at 7pm. Within 1 hour it dropped from 28C and still to 19C with a fresher SW wind. We had a couple of very short showers with huge raindrops but no thunder.
